Robert Somol was an assistant professor at the UCLA and a partner of P XS.

As a theorist, he is known for embracing Projective Theory, a theory in opposition to Critical Architecture. After teaching at Knowlton School of Architecture at the Ohio State Univ (professor) and at Princeton Univ(visiting prof), he became director of the school of architecture at University of Illinois at Chicago.
